KUMBURUTHANIWALA SMALL HYDRO POWER PROJECT (2.5MW)

Kumburuthaniwala small hydro power project was initially identified a potential small hydro power project site to be developed in early 2001. The project approval process was conducted for 2 years and PPA was signed with Ceylon Electricity Board in year 2003. The project construction took 2 years since year 2003 and project was connected to the national grid on Oct 2005.

After completing successful 15 years of operation, the project commenced 2nd life after extending the 1st 15 year PPA to another 20 years.

The project structures are designed for operations beyond 50 years. The maintenance of Electro-Mechaincal Items are done on time by our inhouse teams, thus, the project was easily qualified by the Utility for safer operation for another 20 years in Dec 2019.
