Our Journey was also not simple, but difficult with many obstacles. Yet, operating now for more than 15 years, we, are a truly sustainable and innovative green energy Development company. The journey continues with more than 18 MW of Renewable Energy projects added since the year 2006.
The roots of our company date back to the year 2003 when the very first project was initiated by Mr. Upali Witharana (now CEO of the EGHL and Managing Director of Ceylinco Insurance PLC), He is the pioneer who was instrumental in planting the seeds of hydropower development the mother Company, Ceylinco Insurance PLC, the largest Insurance Company in Sri Lanka. Initial development of works of our first project namely the Belihul Oya small power project with a capacity of 2MW commenced the approval process as far back as 2003. Since then, the projects were added continuously and today we have a combined capacity of 18.5MW spanned over 7 RE projects all around the central mountains and southern region in Sri Lanka.

EGHL poses technically qualified, well-experienced and energetic design, and project management teams in all RE technologies. These human resources had been our most valued strength in winning new business and developing them within the set budgets.
The performance of our power plants is the best measure of our excellence in forecasting and modeling rainfall data, and solar irradiation data to provide energy generation with very high accuracy. The shareholders and Financing Institutions rely on and trust our forecasts which are accurate up to 95% which is proven on the ground by long-term operation data of our power plant feet.
In addition to the in-house expertise, EGHL works with reputed consultants in Sri Lanka who possess decade-long experience in design, value engineering, and project management of hydro, Wind, and Solar power plants.
